A double-layer knit set with an elephant motif
A two-piece knitted baby set: a button-front cardigan with an elephant motif, and matching long trousers. The knit is worked as a double layer rather than a single one, which is what gives the set its weight - closer to a light jacket than a jumper, and warm enough to be the outer layer on a cool day.
The double construction also means a clean inside face, with no loose yarn carried across the back of the motif to catch small fingers. The cardigan buttons at the front, so nothing is pulled over the head.

Fabric and safety
Knitted from 100% cotton with a soft finish and no synthetic blend. Two layers of knit trap air between them, so the set is warmer than a single-layer cotton knit in the same yarn without adding a lining or a second fibre.
The set is graded safety class A - the strictest of the three textile safety grades and the one required for clothing worn by infants under three. It sets tighter limits on formaldehyde, pH and colour fastness than the grades applied to older children's and adult clothing.

Measurements are flat, in centimetres, and may vary by 1-3cm between batches. Chest is a half-measurement, so the full circumference is double the figure shown.

Flat measurements for size 100 are not published by the maker. Contact us before ordering that size and we will confirm them.
Fit notes
The size number is the child's height in centimetres, so size 80 is cut for a child of around 80cm rather than a set age. Height is the more reliable guide here.
The set is cut close to the body. If your child is between two sizes, take the larger size. The cardigan can be worn open or buttoned. The waistband stretches over a nappy and the cuffs turn up on smaller sizes.
Styling
Worn over a plain long-sleeve bodysuit through autumn, or under a coat in winter. The motif does the work, so keep everything else solid - plain booties and a cotton hat.
Care
- Hand wash below 30°C, light and dark colours separately
- Fasten the buttons before washing to stop the placket stretching
- Dry flat and reshape while damp - do not wring or twist
- Dry away from direct sunlight; do not soak for long periods
- Loose cotton fibres on a new garment rinse away in the first wash
- Light pilling is normal on knitted cotton - lift pills with a fabric shaver

The set is the cardigan and trousers only. Hats, booties, socks, bodysuits, blankets and toys in the photographs are styling props and are not supplied.
